Your Sharks have gone national

The Australian Championship is the Champions League of the NPL. It's the national second tier of Australian football, bringing together 16 of the country's best NPL clubs from seven states and territories to fight it out for one trophy. After a strong 2026 NPL NSW campaign, we've earned our place as one of eight Qualifying Clubs, lining up alongside the eight Foundation Clubs in our first ever crack at the competition.

How it works

The 16 clubs are split into four groups of four. We've landed in Group A alongside three genuine heavyweights of Australian football: defending champions South Melbourne, Sydney United 58 and Canberra Croatia. Everyone plays each other home and away, so that's six group games, with three of them right here at Seymour Shaw.

Every point counts. Any draw in the group stage goes straight to a penalty shootout, with the winner taking two points and the loser taking one.

The top two from each group go through to the sudden-death Finals Series, starting with the quarter-finals and building all the way to the Australian Championship Final in December.
