Why Smithy’s?
Smithy’s is named in honour of Paul Smith—a Sharks legend whose story is all about loyalty, resilience, and dedication. From joining as an eager 8-year-old in 1961 and winning the club’s first-ever State Championship, to overcoming injury and captaining the Sharks to the iconic 1978 Ampol Cup victory, Paul’s influence lasted well beyond his playing days.
As a coach, committee leader, and Club President for more than 15 years, his unwavering commitment shaped the club and inspired generations.
Raise your glass to Smithy—a man who truly defines what our club stands for.
