We Make It Count Away At Wanderers: Four In Five For The Sharks

NPL NSW Men's | Round 20

We left Wanderers Football Park with exactly what we came for on Saturday night, dispatching Western Sydney 3-0 to cement our spot in the top six with the business end of the season looming. It was a cagey first half, both sides compact and defensive, but we struck when it mattered and never looked back.

The breakthrough came in the 38th minute when their backline did us a favour. A stray pass from Sinnott put Richard Shoueki on him immediately, and Danny Choi was there to pounce. He stayed calm, rolled it past the keeper, and we had the edge heading into the break. We had the upper hand, but knew we couldn't take our foot off the gas.

Seven minutes into the second half and Choi made it two. Danijel Nizic started it from the back, finding Shoueki's head, and then the Olsen-Choi connection clicked. A perfectly timed pass put Danny in behind, and he made no mistake. From that point on, we controlled the game. Wanderers huffed and puffed but couldn't break us down. We were solid, organised, and ruthless.

In the final ten minutes they got a bit of life back into it. Jesse Cameron and Jordan Owusu both had chances, and Awan Lual came close, but our shape held firm. And then, just when we needed to finish it, we did exactly that. In added time, Olsen picked up the ball, worked a one-two with Tye McGowan, and when he cut it back across the face, McGowan buried it into the roof of the net. Game over. Three points. Exactly the statement we needed to make.

This was a professional performance away from home. Danny was clinical, Richard worked his socks off in the middle, and the whole team defended with real discipline. The players who came on didn't miss a beat either. This is what we're building.

With the run-in upon us, this is the kind of win that matters. It keeps us where we need to be and shows we can do it on the road when it counts.

We travel to the Village green this weekend to take on UNSW FC. Don’t forget to grab tickets to our next home game against APIA Leichhardt on July 4th. Click below for tickets.
