Sutherland Sharks Appoint Charlotte Young As Girls Youth Technical Director

We're thrilled to announce the appointment of Charlotte Young as our new Girls Youth Technical Director, a major step forward as we continue to build out our girls football pathway.

Charlotte brings a rare mix of elite playing pedigree and serious coaching credentials to Seymour Shaw. As a player she represented England at U23 level, and also played for Brighton and Hove Albion and Southampton during her time in England, before continuing her career in Sydney at St George and as captain of APIA.

Her coaching career is just as accomplished. Charlotte holds a UEFA A Licence and has worked across some of the game's most respected development environments, including a stint with the English FA's national development programme and coaching roles within Brighton's youth setup. Locally, she's held the Technical Director post at Sydney University and is currently Head of Girls Football at Endeavour Sports High School, one of the state's leading pathways for young female footballers.

Charlotte pairs that football background with a strong academic grounding, holding a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and a Master of Science in Exercise Science, alongside 14 years of teaching experience. It's a combination that speaks to how she coaches: technically sharp, evidence based and genuinely invested in player development off the pitch as much as on it.

Charlotte will begin coach and player recruitment across our girls youth teams, helping lay the foundation for what we believe will be one of the strongest girls pathways in the state.

It's a big statement of intent from the club, and just the start of what's to come as we continue building toward our girls and women's future. Stay tuned for more on Charlotte and the program in the coming weeks.
