Season Closes In Defeat As Eyes Turn To 2026

Our 2025 season came to an end on Sunday afternoon with a 3-0 defeat away to Marconi Stallions. While it wasn’t the result we wanted to finish on, we showed plenty of fight after a difficult opening half and will now turn our attention towards pre-season and rebuilding for 2026.

The match began with Marconi finding an early breakthrough in the 9th minute when a corner fell kindly to Aleksandar Duricic, who struck home after consultation between the officials.

They doubled their lead in the 32nd minute as Jordan Swibel curled a strike from outside the box into the top corner, before adding a third just two minutes later through Matej Busek, who drove into the area and finished low into the net.

Despite the setback, we responded well in the second half and created some big chances. In the 55th minute, Tye McGowan slipped a great ball through to Leo Mazis, with the deflection falling to Maki Petratos, whose effort was held by the keeper. Just four minutes later, Jack Robinson’s back-post header found Mason Fernandez in the six-yard box, but his volley was blocked on the line by an obvious, but ignored, hand.

We continued pushing, with Jordan Roberts almost pulling one back in the 74th minute when his strike rattled the side netting. At the other end, Sebastian Arranz pulled off a strong save in the 81st minute to deny a fourth.

It was a tough way to finish the campaign, but there were glimpses of the spirit and determination we’ll carry into 2026. With pre-season ahead, the focus now turns to building stronger and coming back ready for the new year.
