Goalless at Pluim, but We Keep Momentum Rolling

After last week’s thrilling upset over league leaders Rockdale, we travelled to the Central Coast eager to keep that winning momentum alive. Despite several promising chances, we were forced to settle for a 0-0 draw against the Mariners on a chilly Sunday evening at Pluim Park.

There was no shortage of action. Jaden Gasking made his debut in Sharks colours as we looked to keep building on our recent form and push further up the ladder. The hosts had an early chance inside six minutes but Danijel Nizic was sharp between the sticks, comfortably handling the effort.

Our best opportunity of the first half came in the 30th minute when Maki Petratos pounced on a loose ball and fired a shot goalward, only for the Mariners’ keeper to tip it onto the crossbar. Yianni Nicolaou and Lachlan Macdonald also went close before the break as we continued to press for an opener.

We had further chances in the second half with Fields, Jackson and Fernandez all involved in dangerous moments, but the ball just wouldn’t fall for us in the final third.

While it was not the win we were after, it was another positive step forward as we build consistency heading into a crucial run of fixtures.

Next up, we’re back at Seymour Shaw this Saturday for our first home game of July as we take on NWS Spirit in front of the Sharks faithful.
