New Signing: Socceroo #591 - Matthew Jurman

Sutherland Sharks FC are proud to confirm the signing of Socceroo Matthew Jurman, adding a wealth of experience to the club's backline ahead of the new season.

The 36-year-old centre-back arrives with over 250 professional appearances across Australia, South Korea, Saudi Arabia and Greece, and eight caps for the Socceroos, including selection in Bert van Marwijk's squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Jurman's career has taken him from Sydney to Suwon, Brisbane to the Bulls, and Illawarra to Ittihad, playing under the likes of Ange Postecoglou and now David Perkovic. Along the way he's lifted A-League championships with Sydney FC and Brisbane Roar, captained the Newcastle Jets, and won the Australia Cup with Macarthur FC.

Head Coach David Perkovic said the club were thrilled to add a player of Jurman's calibre to the group.

"Matthew brings an incredible amount of experience to our backline. Something that will be crucial in the latter stages of this season" Perkovic said.

"He's represented the Socceroos on the biggest stage and captained sides at the top level of Australian football. That kind of leadership and know-how is invaluable as we push for our highest finish in years."

Everyone at the Sharks is incredibly proud to welcome Matthew to the Club.
