Club Statement: David Perkovic Appointed as Men’s First Team Head Coach

Sutherland Sharks FC are delighted to announce the appointment of David Perkovic as our Men’s First Team Head Coach ahead of the 2026 NPL NSW season.

Perkovic arrives at Seymour Shaw following an outstanding spell at NWS Spirit, where he guided the club to the 2025 Premiership and firmly established himself as one of the most exciting managers in the country. Widely respected for his ability to build well-drilled, attacking teams, everyone at the club is excited to see his work in action.

His appointment represents a major statement of intent from the club as we enter a new phase of our rebuild. With recent upgrades to the stadium, pitch and facilities, Sutherland Sharks are determined to match progress off the field with results on it, and Perkovic will be central to driving our first team forward.

We asked David about what this decision means to him:

“I’m honoured to lead the Sharks’ men’s first team. The club has made strong progress off the field, and our goal is to match that on the pitch. With its proud history, my focus is to create an environment where we can write a new chapter and deliver success for our supporters and community to enjoy”

Our General Manager, Trent McClenahan, welcomed Perkovic’s arrival:

“David is one of the most highly regarded coaches in Australian football. His track record speaks for itself, and his ambition aligns perfectly with where we want to take this club. Having experienced the game at a range of levels, I know the value of bringing in someone of David’s calibre, and we’re thrilled he’s chosen to join us at Sutherland.”

With his proven ability to develop players and deliver success, his arrival marks an exciting new chapter for the club and our supporters.

We look forward to seeing the impact of his leadership as we prepare for the 2026 campaign.
