Sharks unveil action‑packed July School Holiday Camps
A full week of football fun is on offer next month as Sutherland Sharks throw open the gates of Seymour Shaw for four new school‑holiday programs aimed at boys and girls from five to 18.
The headline act is a three-day Winter Camp, running Monday 14 to Wednesday 16 July, where boys and girls aged five to 13 can run wild with the ball, build their skills, and have a blast doing it. Guided by the Sharks’ friendly, qualified coaches, kids are grouped by age and ability to keep things fair, supportive—and packed with fun, fast-paced challenges. Each player also scores a free Sharks kit to wear with pride on and off the pitch.
‘If they walk away more confident on the ball and grinning from ear to ear, we’ve done our job,’ Junior Technical Director James Webb said. ‘We focus on fun, teamwork, and creating an environment where kids feel connected and supported.’ Participants can expect a carousel of ball‑mastery sessions and mini‑games, with daily prizes, high‑fives, and plenty of chances to build new connections on and off the pitch.
For A-grade and representative players there is a one‑day High Performance Camp on Thursday 17 July, fronted by former Socceroo Paul Reid. Numbers are capped to guarantee personal attention. ‘We’ll dig into some intense technical drills, tactics, decision‑making and video analysis – the things young players usually only taste at the highest level,’ Reid said. ‘If you’re hungry to test yourself, this is the day.’
Goalkeepers are not forgotten. Also on the 17th, Nathan Denham – mentor to some of the country’s best keepers – will run a dedicated Goalkeeping Masterclass for keepers of all abilities aged eight to 18. Crossing drills, one‑on‑one scenarios and rapid‑fire reflex work headline the program, backed up by video feedback. ‘It’s a hands-on day with plenty of action, but the goal is simple: help every young keeper improve and enjoy the experience.’ Denham promised.
Rounding out the schedule is a brand‑new Strength, Speed & Conditioning Workshop inside the Sharks’ high‑performance gym. The boys’ session kicks off on Monday 14 July and the girls’ on Tuesday 15 July. Head strength coach Tom Wilson will guide players (11‑18) through plyometrics, sprint mechanics and the Football Australia Perform+ warm‑up. ‘We’re arming kids with routines they can run on their own at home – no fancy gear required,’ Wilson said.
