Tom Sermanni Joins Sutherland Sharks FC as Strategic Director of Women's Football

We are incredibly proud to confirm the appointment of Tom Sermanni as our new Strategic Director of Women's Football, bringing decades of international experience to help build our women's and girls' pathway.

From three separate stints in charge of the Matildas to spells with the USWNT, the Football Ferns and Canada, and three seasons as the inaugural head coach of Orlando Pride in the NWSL, Tom's coaching CV in the Women’s game is close to unmatched.

He's the most successful coach in Matilda's history, guiding the side to their only major trophy at the 2010 AFC Asian Cup and quarterfinal finishes at the 2007 and 2011 FIFA Women's World Cups. A Football Australia Hall of Famer and 2007 AFC Coach of the Year, Tom has spent a career developing world-class talent across four continents.

In his new role, Tom will work closely with the club, advising on key appointments including First Grade Head Coach, Youth and JDL TD’s alongside attracting the best coaches and players, helping shape strategic decisions at every level of the women's program.
